Office Cleaning Around Business Hours: What a Schedule Should Cover

How to plan office cleaning around your staff's hours, what to clean daily, weekly, and monthly, and what to agree on with a cleaning team before the first visit.

By the Maritza's Cleaning Services team ·

An office gets dirty in a different way than a home. More people share fewer surfaces. Restrooms and break rooms see heavy use every day. And the cleaning has to happen without getting in your team’s way. A good schedule solves all of that before the first visit.

Start with your hours, not ours

The best time to clean an office is when it is quiet. For most offices that means early morning, after close, or a slow stretch midday. Each option has trade-offs.

  • Early morning. Staff walk into a fresh space. Restrooms and kitchens are ready for the day.
  • After close. The team has room to move, and floors have time to dry overnight.
  • A quiet midday stretch. This works for small offices with a lunch break or a closed day.

We are available Monday to Saturday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Tell us your business hours when you call, and we work out a visit time that fits them.

What to clean on every visit

Some areas need attention each time we come. These are the surfaces your staff and visitors touch most.

  • Restrooms. Toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors cleaned, plus soap and paper restocked.
  • Break room and kitchen. Counters, the sink, the microwave, and the table wiped down.
  • High-touch points. Door handles, light switches, railings, and elevator buttons.
  • Trash and recycling. Every bin emptied, with liners replaced.
  • Floors in busy paths. Entrances, hallways, and the route to the restrooms.

Restrooms shape how people feel about the whole office. If the budget allows only a few tasks per visit, start there.

What to clean weekly

Other tasks can rotate through the week. They matter, but they build up more slowly.

  • Dusting desks, shelves, window sills, and the tops of filing cabinets
  • Wiping shared phones, printers, and conference room tables
  • Vacuuming carpets across the whole floor, not just the paths
  • Mopping hard floors in offices and meeting rooms
  • Wiping the outside of the fridge and the cabinet fronts in the break room
  • Cleaning glass doors and interior partitions at hand height

A note on desks: decide up front how far the cleaning should go. Should the team move papers, or wipe keyboards and screens? Agree on this before the first visit, so everyone knows what to expect.

What to clean monthly or as needed

A few jobs only need doing once in a while. Put them on the calendar anyway, or they slip.

  • Baseboards and door frames along every hallway
  • Air vents and return grilles, which gather dust and spread it back out
  • Inside the break room fridge, after staff clear out their food
  • Interior windows and window tracks
  • Spot-cleaning marks and scuffs on walls near desks and doors
  • Chair bases and the legs of tables, where dust settles out of sight

If your office has not had a deep clean in a while, start with one. Later visits go faster once the baseline is reset.

Questions to settle before the first visit

A short conversation now saves confusion later. Here is what we ask about:

  • Access. Who lets us in, and how? Keys, a code, or a staff member on site?
  • Alarm. Is there a security system to arm or disarm?
  • Supplies. We bring our own equipment and cleaning supplies. Do you stock paper goods and soap, or should we?
  • Off-limits areas. Server rooms, files, or private offices you want left alone.
  • Contact. Who do we call if something comes up during a visit?

Write the answers down and keep them with the schedule. The same small team handles your account each time, so you only explain the job once.

How often should an office be cleaned?

It depends on headcount and how the space is used. A busy office with a full kitchen may need several visits a week. A small office with a few desks may do well with one. A recurring schedule can be weekly, every other week, or monthly. Tell us how many people use the space and on which days, and we can suggest a starting point.

How pricing works for offices

We do not bill by the hour. We price by the size and condition of the space and how often you need us. You know the number before we start. We accept cash, check, and Zelle.

We are fully insured for commercial cleaning. If something we cleaned does not look right, tell us within 24 hours. We come back and re-clean it, free.

Set up your office schedule

We clean offices across Nassau, Suffolk, and Queens. Call or message us on WhatsApp at (516) 244-7788. You can also request an estimate online. Tell us your business hours, and we build the visits around them.
