How Cleaning Estimates Work: Priced by Size and Condition, Not by the Hour
Why we price cleaning by the size and condition of your space instead of by the hour, what we ask on the first call, and how to get an accurate estimate.
By the Maritza's Cleaning Services team ·
Asking a cleaning company for a price can feel vague. Some quote an hourly rate. Others won’t name a number until they see the space. We do it differently. We price each job by the size and condition of your space, and you know the number before we start. Here is how that works.
Why we don’t charge by the hour
An hourly rate sounds simple, but it leaves the final bill open. If the job runs long, you pay more. You also can’t plan your budget until the visit is over.
Pricing by the job fixes that. We agree on a number for the work before we start.
It also changes how the visit feels. Nobody is watching the clock. The team can focus on the work in front of them.
What goes into an estimate
Two things matter most: the size of the space, and its condition. A few more details help us get the number right.
Size
Size is the starting point. For a home, that means bedrooms and bathrooms. For an office or a church, it means square footage and the number of rooms. A three-bedroom house with two bathrooms takes more work than a one-bedroom apartment.
Bathrooms and kitchens count for more than other rooms. They have more surfaces, more fixtures, and more buildup to clear.
Condition
Condition is the second part. Two homes of the same size can need very different amounts of work.
We ask questions like these:
- When was the space last cleaned by a professional team?
- Is there grease on the stovetop, hood, or cabinet fronts?
- Is there soap scum or hard water buildup in the showers?
- Are there pets in the home, and do they shed?
- Was there a recent renovation that left dust behind?
None of this is about judging your home. It tells us how much time and effort the job needs. Honest answers give you an honest number.
Type of visit
A deep clean takes more work than a regular visit. It reaches baseboards, vents, grout, and the spots a weekly routine skips. A move-out clean of an empty unit includes cabinet interiors and appliances. Each type of visit is priced to match the work.
Frequency
How often you want us also shapes the price. A home cleaned every week stays in good condition between visits. Each visit then takes less work than one after a long gap. Tell us if you want weekly, every other week, monthly, or a one-time visit.
Add-ons
Some tasks are add-ons we quote separately. These include:
- Inside the oven
- Inside the refrigerator
- Interior window cleaning
- Baseboards and door frames
- Cabinet fronts and hardware
- Interior wall spot-cleaning
- Laundry, washed, dried, and folded
- Cleanup after a party or event
Add only what you need. Mention them on the first call so they are part of the number.
What to tell us on the first call
You can help us give you an accurate estimate in a few minutes. Have these details ready:
- Your town or ZIP code. We serve Nassau, Suffolk, and Queens.
- The type of space. House, apartment, office, or church.
- The size. Bedrooms and bathrooms, or the approximate square footage.
- The condition. When it was last cleaned, and any problem areas.
- The type of visit. Regular, deep clean, or move in or move out.
- How often. One time, or a recurring schedule.
- Any add-ons. Oven, fridge, windows, and so on.
- Your timing. Preferred days, or a moving or event date to plan around.
Photos can help too. You can send them with your WhatsApp message.
What happens after you get the number
Once you review the estimate, we agree on a day for the first visit. The same small team arrives with everything they need and works through your space.
After the visit, you have 24 hours to tell us if anything is not right. If an area needs another pass, we come back and re-clean it, free.
We accept cash, check, and Zelle. We are fully insured for residential and commercial cleaning.
