Deep Clean or Regular Clean? How Often Your Home Needs Each
What a deep clean reaches that a regular visit does not, and how to set a cleaning rhythm for a home on Long Island or in Queens.

Many first calls start with the same question. Do I need a deep clean, or a regular one? The answer depends on what has built up in your home, and for how long. Here is how we think about the difference, and how to pick a schedule that holds.
What a regular clean is for
A regular clean keeps a home steady from one visit to the next. It deals with the surfaces your family touches and sees every day. The goal is to stop dust and grime from settling in.
On a standard visit, we work through the rooms you use most:
- Kitchen counters, the sink, the backsplash, and the stovetop
- The outside of the microwave, the fridge, and the dishwasher
- Toilets, tubs, showers, bathroom sinks, and mirrors
- Dusting of shelves, tabletops, and reachable ledges
- Vacuuming carpets and rugs, then mopping hard floors
- Emptying trash and resetting each room
A regular visit moves quickly because the home is already in good shape. It works best when nothing has been left to pile up for months.
What a deep clean reaches
A deep clean goes after the places a weekly routine skips. These spots collect dust, grease, and soap scum slowly. You rarely notice them until you look closely.
A deep clean adds work like this:
- Baseboards and door frames. Dust settles on every ledge and stays there.
- Vents and return grilles. They gather a gray film that spreads back into the room.
- Tile grout. Bathrooms and kitchen backsplashes darken along the lines first.
- Light switches and door handles. Hands leave a layer you only see in daylight.
- Under and behind reachable furniture. Couches and beds hide more than you expect.
- Cabinet fronts and hardware. Kitchen grease builds up around the handles.
- Fixtures and faucets. Hard water leaves spots and crust around the base.
Some tasks are add-ons we quote separately. Inside the oven and inside the refrigerator are the common ones. So are interior windows and spot-cleaning marks on walls. If you want them, mention them when you ask for an estimate.
Start with a deep clean, then keep it there
We clean in two phases. The first visit is a deep clean that sets a baseline for the whole home. After that, scheduled visits keep it at that level.
This order matters. A regular clean on top of months of buildup only skims the surface. The grout stays dark, and the vents keep shedding dust. Once the deep clean resets everything, later visits go faster and hold up longer.
The same small team comes back on each visit. They learn your home, your routines, and the spots that need extra attention. You do not have to explain the job again every time.
How often should you book a regular clean?
There is no single right answer. It comes down to how your home is used. A few questions help:
- How many people live there? More people means more dishes, laundry, and floor traffic.
- Do you have pets? Fur and paw prints come back fast, even after a good clean.
- Do you cook at home most nights? Kitchens pick up grease on the stove and cabinets.
- Do you work from home? A home that is occupied all day gets dusty faster.
Here is a simple way to choose:
- Weekly suits busy, well-used homes. Think kids, pets, or a full kitchen every night.
- Every other week is a middle ground. Kitchens and bathrooms never get far out of hand.
- Monthly fits tidy homes and smaller spaces. It is a steady refresh between your own upkeep.
If you are unsure, start with every other week. You can move to weekly or monthly once you see how the home holds up.
When a one-time deep clean makes sense
Not every home needs a recurring schedule. A one-time deep clean is useful at certain moments:
- Before you host a holiday or a family party
- After a renovation leaves fine dust on every surface
- At the change of seasons, when windows open and vents switch on
- When you are back from a long trip and want a fresh start
- Before a new baby arrives or a relative moves in
There is no commitment after a one-time visit. If you like the result, you can set a schedule later.
Signs your home is due for a deep clean
You may not need a calendar to tell you. Look for these signs:
- The grout in the shower looks darker than when you moved in
- Dust drifts out of the vents when the heat or air turns on
- The stovetop stays sticky after you wipe it down
- Baseboards show a gray line along the bottom edge
- The kitchen cabinet handles feel tacky to the touch
If two or three of these sound familiar, a deep clean is a good place to start.
What it costs
We do not charge by the hour. We price each job by the size and condition of your home. A deep clean takes more work than a regular visit, so it is priced higher. Either way, you get the number before we start.
